Simon and Johanna from our ERP team recently participated in Infor Partner Enablement in Paris and returned with exciting insights about Infor Process Mining. But what does the term Process Mining actually mean, and how does it specifically work in Infor's solution? Let's start from the beginning and clarify the concepts.

What is process mining?

Process mining is a method that analyses data from your business system to map and understand how the organisation's processes actually work. The technique is based on real event data and shows exactly how different activities and steps in a process are carried out, rather than how they are documented or intended to work.

Process mining is used to:

  • Visualise real process flows
  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficient steps
  • Measure the performance of processes over time

What is Infor Process Mining?

Infor Process Mining is Infor's solution based on Process Mining technology, specifically designed for integration with Infor CloudSuite and products within Infor OS. The solution offers quick, accurate insights to optimize ERP processes and improve decision-making.

Infor Process Mining provides:

  • In-depth analysis of process flows and operational efficiency
  • Quick identification of bottlenecks and deviations
  • Easy and fast integration with existing Infor systems

How does Infor Process Mining work?

Infor Process Mining works according to the following steps:

  1. Data collection: The tool automatically collects relevant events from the business system, such as created orders or sent invoices.
  2. Visualisation: Collected data is transformed into clear visual maps of actual process flows.
  3. Analysis and improvement: Quickly identify bottlenecks, inefficient steps, and deviations from your standard processes.

Why use Infor Process Mining?

Infor Process Mining helps you to:

  • Gain reality-based insights – understand exactly how the processes work.
  • Improve efficiency – by eliminating unnecessary or ineffective steps.
  • Make better decisions – with the help of fact-based insights.
  • Effectively follow up results – see and measure the effects of your changes over time.

Simple integration with Infor CloudSuite

Infor Process Mining integrates smoothly with Infor CloudSuite and Datalake. This allows you to quickly get started with analysing key processes such as:

  • Procure-to-Pay
  • Order-to-Cash
  • Production Planning

The integration enables rapid insights - often within a few days after implementation.

Flexibility and opportunities

Infor Process Mining is flexible and can be tailored to your specific needs:

  • Custom process flows: Create your own analyses for internal routines and processes.
  • Extension of standard processes: Add specific activities or steps in standard processes.
  • Custom data model: Include your own attributes, key fields, or KPIs from your ERP system.
  • Custom reports: Create unique analyses and insights tailored for your business.

Infor also offers a flexible, usage-based licensing model where you only pay for the data and insights you actually use.

How to get started with process mining

For best results, we recommend starting with about two months of data from daily operations. Process mining is particularly well-suited after a system implementation to follow up and improve processes. The tool is easy to use, and we at Elvenite are available to help you interpret the results and make adjustments as needed.

Good skills to have in the team

To succeed with process mining, it is beneficial if your team has knowledge in:

  • Database management and Infor M3.
  • Usage and management of data lakes.
  • Basic understanding of business processes.

Infor process mining will be released in conjunction with Infor's April 2025 release and will then become part of the Infor OS platform.
