Elvenite annual review 2023

It’s time to summarize 2023, and doing so briefly will be a challenge because so much has happened at Elvenite. We can state that 2023 has been the most successful year for Elvenite since we started the company over 16 years ago, but it has also been one of the most challenging. In this annual review, we have chosen to highlight some of the year’s highlights.

First, we want to thank all our fantastic customers whose insights, opportunities, and challenges have allowed us to take a major step forward in applying AI and smart technical solutions for our clients. Although we at Elvenite have been working with Data Science and AI for several years, 2023 was the year when we carried out large and groundbreaking assignments for some of our clients within AI. This will accelerate in 2024, and we at Elvenite look forward to new exciting collaborations. We see a 2024 where more clients will gain increased insights into what, how, and where AI can be applied in their organizations, something that will increase understanding and contribute to moving from opportunistic AI projects to more business-critical projects and initiatives with a clear investment character. Another observation for the coming year is that we continuously need to follow the regulatory requirements that will be clarified within AI during 2024. We believe in collaborations and a strong commitment together with our clients to continue driving forward innovative solutions and taking advantage of the technical opportunities that are developing at a tremendous pace.

In 2023, we have carried out several projects and commitments that show that what we believe in can also be achieved, namely making the food industry smarter. With great gratitude and eager anticipation, we look forward to a very exciting 2024 where we will continue to want to develop and be challenged by our clients and meet our future challenges with innovation, commitment, and care.

Happy reading,

Mathias Dyberg, CEO.

Elvenite expands to Finland

Expansion in the Nordics: Establishment and New Successes in the Finnish Market

2023 marked a significant step in our growth journey. We welcomed our first employment in Finland (anna mennä, Katja!), symbolizing our official entry into the Finnish market. This expansion has not only given us new opportunities and challenges but also opened doors for new customer relationships. Gaining new customers in the region has been both inspiring and affirming of our work and solutions. We see this as the beginning of an exciting journey where we continue to create value and innovation for our customers in Finland and the rest of the world.

Innovation in Focus: Elvenite wins Infor alliance innovation award

Under 2023, we had the great pleasure and honor of receiving the “Infor Alliance Innovation Award“, an accolade that means a lot to us at Elvenite. It is a recognition of our work to incorporate advanced technology like AI and IoT into the food industry to create real value for our customers. This prize is not just a symbol of innovation but also a sign of our commitment to constantly strive to improve and develop new solutions. Our work in optimizing processes and strengthening decision-making in food production is part of our vision to be at the forefront of technological development. We are grateful for this recognition and look forward to continuing our collaboration with Infor and our customers to drive the industry forward.

Valio hackathon winner: Innovative solution for more consistent milk production

Under 2023, we participated in the Valio Hackathon, an initiative to even out seasonal variations in milk production. Our winning solution, a data-driven model proposal, aimed to understand and manage these variations directly from the dairy farms. By analyzing data from farms with different seasonal variations, we were able to identify factors that affect these differences. This work is not only a step towards more efficient production planning for Valio but also contributes to their goal of climate-neutral milk by 2035. The experiences from the hackathon, where we met mentors and participants with deep knowledge of the dairy industry, were both inspiring and insightful.

New customers – New friends

We are incredibly happy and grateful to have welcomed a number of new customers this year. That Scandbio, Olvi, Aqua Group, Leksands Knäckebröd, Bama, Löfbergs, and Valio have given us the trust to work with their digital transformation projects is a great honor. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with great enthusiasm and being a part of contributing to their successes. Welcome!

Speed Seed: AI Project for Seed Treatment

The Speed Seed project, a collaboration between Elvenite and Lantmännen BioAgri, is a groundbreaking example of how tradition and technology can collaborate to create a sustainable future for agriculture. By combining advanced data analysis with Lantmännen’s extensive knowledge and experience, we have developed a machine learning model that predicts the optimal treatment intensity for each seed batch. In practice, this means that farmers, instead of relying on time-consuming test methods, can now rely on data-driven insights. Speed Seed is more than a technology project; it is a meeting place for disciplines where innovation meets tradition to drive agriculture forward.

Third Year in a Row: Elvenite Publishes Sustainability Report

For the third year in a row, we at Elvenite have chosen to release a sustainability report. This is part of our ongoing work to continuously improve and reflect on our contribution to sustainability issues. The report highlights the importance of taking responsibility for sustainability within the food industry and shows the opportunities for making positive changes, such as reducing carbon emissions and food waste.

Progress in sustainable food chain through data management

During 2023, we conducted a research collaboration CTF at Karlstad University and several companies in the food industry. The research focused on developing data management strategies with the goal of addressing sustainability challenges in the food industry and achieving the Agenda 2030 goals. By bringing together knowledge from different parts of the food chain, we were able to identify key factors for successful sustainability initiatives. The result was a framework for how organizations can use data to not only meet but also benefit from sustainability challenges, opening up new opportunities within the industry.

Closing (and beginning)

As we approach the end of 2023 and look forward to what 2024 has to offer, it is clear that AI’s role within the food industry will be more important than ever. Given the rapid development within AI, it is difficult to even imagine the full potential that awaits. We can expect AI to be integrated even deeper into all aspects of the food industry, from production lines to customer experiences, creating new paths for efficiency, innovation, and sustainability.

As AI continues to develop, we are likely to see more sophisticated analysis tools and automated systems that can handle complex tasks, from predicting consumer trends to improving food safety. These advances will not only streamline existing processes but also open up new ways of thinking about food production and distribution.

The progress in digitalization is also a key factor, where the integration of IoT devices, blockchain technology, and smart sensor systems will allow for a more cohesive and transparent food chain. This will enable better traceability and sustainability control, crucial for meeting both the increasing demands of consumers and global environmental goals.

In addition to these technical advances, the human factor will also play a major role. Education and training in AI and digital tools are becoming increasingly important to ensure that the workforce within the food industry can keep pace with technological development. This will be crucial to fully leverage the opportunities offered by AI and digitalization.

With these insights in mind, we send our warmest Christmas greetings to you all. We look forward to a 2024 filled with progress, innovation, and collaboration within the food industry. Let’s together explore the limitless potential of AI and welcome the new year with open arms and smart ideas.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
